Empress / Emax

E-max or Empress Porcelain are the most aesthetically advanced veneers, either with a reinforced porcelain substructure or made entirely from reinforced porcelain as a block. Unlike other veneers, these types of veneers do not require a metal or zirconium substructure. The laboratory stages are entirely carried out using computer-aided, specialized scanner and printer systems (CAD_Cam). Therefore, they are technically highly sensitive applications.

It is preferred due to its aesthetic superiority over alternative materials, especially in the front teeth where aesthetics are very important, in single tooth crowns or in short bridge applications where there are rarely one or two missing teeth, and in teeth with too much material loss to be laminated.

ADVANTAGES

* Because they have excellent light permeability, they provide the closest aesthetic to natural teeth. They do not cause gray or purple discoloration at the gum level.

* Less abrasion is done on the tooth compared to zirconium or metal-based coatings.

* No allergic reaction is observed.

* Hot-cold conductivity is very low.

DISADVANTAGES

* Since it is not a very resistant material, it cannot be used in long bridges that are subject to high pressure.

* It is more costly than metal-based coatings.
